In the California 2018-2019 state budget, signed by Governor Brown, effective July 1, 2018, $50 million dollars of funding is allocated for the purpose of supporting the development and implementation of special education teacher residency programs. Grant applicants may consist of one or more, or any combination, of a school district, county office of education, a charter school, a regional occupational center, or a nonpublic, nonsectarian school (as defined in Ed Code ยง56034).
