A new report written by Linda Darling-Hammond, Roberta Furger, Patrick M. Shields, and Leib Sutcher addressing California’s Emerging Teacher Shortage and published in the Washington Post on January 24, 2016, discusses the growing demand for teachers in California.  A study the report refers to conducted by U.S. Education Department states that the shortage will worsen unless California takes action now to prevent “more acute, widespread shortage of teachers".  The report provides reasons for the shortage and recommendations on how to reverse it.
