ALERT! CDE Announces Delay in New Online Application System for 2017 Certification Cycle

The California Department of Education (CDE), Special Education Division, Interagency-Nonpublic Schools, and Agencies (IA–NPS/A) unit announced that due to contractual issues, the new online certification application system is delayed. Below is the announcement from the CDE with instructions and forms to manually complete the certification renewal process for 2017.
Attention Nonpublic Schools:
The California Department of Education (CDE), Special Education Division, Interagency-Nonpublic Schools and Agencies (IA–NPS/A) unit informed nonpublic schools that a new online application system would replace the previously used California Accountability and Improvement System (CAIS) for the 2017 certification cycle. Due to contractual delays, the release date for the new system has been delayed. As such, the 2017 renewal application packet will be processed manually until further notice. The attached 2017 certification renewal application packet will be accepted by the CDE using standard or expedited mail service. Nonpublic School (NPS) applicants may submit the 2017 renewal application packet to the CDE anytime between August 1 and October 31, 2016. Renewal applications postmarked after October 31, 2016, will not be accepted.
For your convenience, an instruction manual for completing the 2017 certification renewal application has been attached to this e-mail. Please download and thoroughly review the instruction manual. Complete all forms according to the instructions. Mail the entire renewal application packet, including supporting documents, with the appropriate renewal fee to:

IMPORTANT: Applicants must use the forms provided in the 2017 NPS Renewal Application Packet unless otherwise stated. Forms submitted from previous years will not be accepted.
If you do not plan on renewing the NPS certification for the 2017 cycle, please contact the CDE, Special Education Division and provide the date of anticipated NPS closure and the termination of master contracts with local educational agencies.
