On January 10, 2017, Governor Jerry Brown released his proposed 2017-18 state budget.   According to the summary on Special Education, the Administration will seek feedback from stakeholders in the Spring budget process on the current Special Education finance system.  Stakeholder feedback is a response to recommendations from the California Statewide Special Education Task Force and the November 2016 Public Policy Institute of California's report on Special Education Finance in California.

SELPA, District Superintendents, Special Education Directors, Charter Schools, County Offices of Education and CDE are expected to weigh in along with  Disability Rights and Mental Health Advocates.  Feedback will ultimately determine if the budget would roll Special Education funding into the Local Control Funding Formula.

The California Department of Finance website provides the latest budget information and includes the Governor's Proposed budget, the May Revision and the Enacted Budget.
